My Story
I strongly believe in the principle of lifelong learning and am proud to have graduated cum laude with a BEng in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Pretoria. My dedication to academic excellence was further recognized when I was named to the prestigious Faculty of Engineering Dean’s List in both 2021 and 2022.
During 2022 I was fortunate to have been selected by Massachusetts Institute of Technology to complete my 3rd year of studies in Boston (USA), as part of a sponsored program by MIT’s Department of Aeronautics and Astronautics Engineering. Moving to the USA challenged me to adapt quickly to new cultures, norms, and environments, sharpening my problem-solving skills, flexibility, and resilience. This experience not only enabled me to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced settings but also broadened my horizons, providing valuable opportunities to connect with inspiring academics, students, and companies.
Motorsport’s passion, dedication and desire to always perform at the highest standard has captured my interest and resonated with my beliefs. Coming from South Africa, I had limited exposure to the high-level motorsport industry. However, during my undergraduate studies, I actively sought opportunities to learn and deepen my understanding. I used my free time to run the Aerodynamics team of the MIT Motorsports FSAE team in 2022, as well develop a specialized composite suspension system for the TuksBaja Baja SAE team in 2023.
Being very methodical and meticulous, I selected the UK as it is well known for being very central to the motorsport industry, with many different motorsport teams and companies being based in the area. I committed to pursuing my passion and chose to start my new life in the UK at Cranfield University as it is an extremely competitive degree with an amazing reputation and invaluable connections to the motorsport industry.
I am currently completing my MSc in Advanced Motorsport Engineering, with a focus on Mechanical Design and Structural Analysis. My latest work consisted of a Group Design Project, focused on the design of a Hydrogen Combustion powered WEC Endurance Race car. My role was the design of the Carbon Fiber Monocoque Chassis, with the target of being more environmentally friendly and implementing Recycled Carbon Fiber materials. I based the design on the 2025 FIA WEC regulations and worked closely with the vehicle dynamics and aerodynamics department. I validated my design with a torsional analysis in Ansys FEA. I also designed and simulated a composite anti-intrusion panel for the protection of the vehicle in a side impact, using LS-Dyna Simulations.
I wish to work in a technically challenging and fast paced environment. Being part of an energetic and diverse team within the motorsport industry would be an amazing opportunity to grow my engineering skills and hone my communication skills. I strive to keep learning and improving myself and hopefully that would lead to one day having a positive impact on the motorsport industry, no matter how small.
